London polymath Max Winter has shared another breath-taking collaboration, this time with fellow TMR favourite Lauren Auder. Set to appear on his forthcoming mixtape Like The Season, 'Things Can't Stop' is an effortless blend of multiple disparate genres. Like much of Winter's work, the track feels like a collage, pieced together with confidence and precision. Opening to Lauren Auder's instantly recognisable vocals, we're lead in a minimal direction as deep mellotron strings provide bass for her candid lyricism. Opening up to something more ethereal with the inclusion of warped, celestial backing vocals, 'Things Can't Stop' picks up the pace as Winter's subtly jazzy keys propel his own dusky vocal delivery. Heavily embellished with hair-brained, black midi-esque guitars, hectic drums inject urgency and intensity as the composition unfolds entirely. Breaking down to allow acoustic instruments to surface from the mix, washy electric guitar cradles a stunning new vocal melody. A gentle marching beat anchors this otherworldly outro, carrying this highly accomplished compositional to a gentle crash landing. Featuring further collaborations with Tony Bontana, Asha Lorenz of Sorry and Rael, Like The Season is set to arrive on the 21st of May via Secret Friend.
