Zürich art-rock quartet District Five have returned with their latest track, ‘Place Your Bet’. It’s an adventurous piece of spacey art-rock flecked with modern experimental jazz influences and nods toward the chaos of black midi, all wrapped up in the spirit of proggy psychedelia. This track in particular is a 7/4 romp centred on a luscious Juno-106 synth figure. They say that the track “is about the nature and allure of gambling and addictive behavior; desperate hopefulness, risk-taking. On the bright side, there’s a big coda at the end that feels like a chorus / resolution.” Keep an eye out for more from District Five over the course of 2026.
