Glass Eel
List Pick
April 2, 2026
Almost a year on from her debut single 'The Line', South London-based songwriter, producer and boat builder (yep that's right), Alice Western shares 'Amends' under her Glass Eel moniker. The gently psychedelic dose of acoustic grunge is simultaneously whimsical and grounded as surreal ripples of flute, tin whistle and shruti box punctuate the guitar-led piece. Like Alice tumbling down a rabbit hole, there's a sense of entering a new world where the possibilities are endless as Western explains: “I can never make my mind up about anything and if I keep tunnelling down these wormholes maybe I will find a way to make up my mind. The cycle of falling from my perch of calm stasis, into the ether of obsession, and clawing my way back." Out now via Memorials of Distinction, 'Amends' currently stands alone but we'll be watching closely for more.
