Brighton psych-garage band Oral Habit have released their new track, ‘Surface Breaker’. It’s a sludgy and fuzzy garage rock track filled with intentionally loose, heavy playing that is juxtaposed by the intricacy of their arrangements, which are full of tempo shifts and structural twists and turns that are hard to keep tabs on, all delivered in under two minutes. “Drunken crooning trips and breaks through the surface, a machine gun of snare hits and slipping sludge riffs,” says Charlie Hales. “Before you can hold it in your hands, it’s already slipped through your fingertips.” A Broken Chord, the debut album from Oral Habit, drops on June 12th, 2026, via Krautpop!
