Dutch art-rock trio The Homesick have revealed their new track, ‘Esperanto’. It’s a purposeful, robotic cut that sits in a strange space between the driving, motorik rhythms of post-punk and an explorative electronic landscape evocative of Kraftwerk at times. They also lean into disco at points, and even throw in a crunchy, Echo & The Bunnymen-esque guitar line at the end. On the background of the track, Elias Elgersma says: “For over a year we played it live with improvised lyrics. I (Elias) always just sang ''Esperanto'', no clue why. While recording I came up with a short little lyric about Nostradamus. For some reason Nostradamus reminded me of Lejzer Zamenhof, the guy who invented the language of Esperanto. What they both have in common is that they both became famous historical figures with kinda useless stuff; inventing a pointless language and predicting nonsense.” Keep an eye out for more from The Homesick over 2026 and check out their 2023 LP, The Big Exercise.
