Having overcome a series of life's toughest challenges, Katy Young (pka) Tenderness announces her debut album with the lilting 'Day of Atonement'. Set for release through Amorphous Records on the 13th of March, True is the product of a long-term collaboration with Greenwich-based musician and producer Euan Hinshelwood. Starting life in 2020, Young recalls Covid restrictions loosening enough for a trip across town, where the pair recorded eight demos with no pressure or plan. 'Day of Atonement' sees the fruits of their labour come to life - meditative and subtly surreal as gentle guitar work drifts across hypnotic drones and ambient percussion. Citing Big Thief and Patsy Cline as influences, there's an undeniable country twang to the blissed out modern folk number, which centres Young's effortless vocal style and observant lyricism.
