South London band Borscht have revealed their new track, ‘Up North’. It’s a lilting, innocent track with more than a hint of Syd Barrett to its conversational, simplistic lyrics. Texturally, the wonky strum of guitar is offset by tremolo-laden countermelodies and the horn textures that appear as the track crescendos. The band, who have already established a reputation in live settings, are often represented on screen through the claymation art of Edie Lawrence, who says: “Plasticine felt right because it’s tactile and imperfect. You can see the fingerprints, the small dents and reshaping, which mirror the band’s raw, handmade energy. Each head became less of a literal portrait and more of a distilled caricature.” The band are gearing up to drop their debut EP, Colour Of Forever, which will be self-released on May 15th, 2026.
