Mysterious three-layered entity itcallsme i has revealed their new single, ‘UGLY’, which is lifted from their upcoming debut EP. True to form, this cut is a dark soundscape defined by its tense experimentalism. Over a relentless, unmoving bass line and a slowly rising synth, itcallsme i’s voice slowly forces a transition toward trance-y maximalism. There are notes of early Billie Eilish in the vocal sections, but the chaos of Aphex Twin and the influence of the Stockholm underground are out in full force during the manic instrumentals. Of the CHARCOAL EP, due on April 29th, 2026, they say: “This EP reflects that full spectrum: the highs of creative expression and the challenges that come with it.
